Custom Fabrication Options:
Ability Plastics provides the broadest range of custom fabrication products and services available in the industry. Our master craftsmen produce the finest quality products made from flexible or phenolic engraving stock, acrylic materials, brass and aluminum. Think of our fabrication department as an extension of your own shop. We are ready willing and able to provide the help you need to meet the most demanding requirements in the shortest possible time. Most of our custom fabrication orders are completed and shipped within two working days. We guarantee that our custom fabrication products will meet or exceed your specifications. The following is a basic list of our custom fabrication capabilities:

• Beveled Edges – All custom cut pieces can be supplied with or without a beveled edge. The standard beveled edge is 45 degrees and is included in the cut piece price for most materials. There is an extra charge for special bevels and for beveled edges on cut pieces over a certain size. Pieces narrower than 1/2" cannot be beveled. And, we do not recommend a beveled edge for 1/32" and thinner materials.

• Rounded Corners – We can accomodate your choice of a standard radius for rounded corners. For saw cut pieces, we will provide rounded corners in lieu of a beveled edge for no additional charge. Notched and other special corners are available for an extra charge. Pieces cut on our automated CNC routers can be supplied with rounded corners and beveled edges for an additional charge.

• Mounting Adhesive – Using our automated laminating machine, we can apply 3M 467 MP, high grade adhesive, to the back of any plastic, phenolic or metal engraving stock. This machine allows us to apply the adhesive evenly across the material leaving no voids. This will simplify mounting the material to a substrate for ADA signage and other applications.

• Drilled Holes – We offer a number of standard hole sizes to make installation of your finished product easy. We can provide hole sizes other than the standard for an additional charge. To ensure accurate placement of holes, we require a drawing that shows the following:
• The measurement from the left hand edge to the center of the first hole.
• The measurement from the top edge to the center of the first hole.
• The measurement from the center of the first hole to the center of the second hole.

We can also handle substantially more complex hole configurations for control panel and other special applications. The customer must supply
electronic artwork or complete drawings. These jobs must be special quoted based on the specific requirements.

• Bending – We can bend most flexible plastic and acrylic 1/16" and thicker to form a pocket badge, self-standing display signs, sign holders or for other special requirements. A setup charge and minimum quantities will apply.

• Polished Edges – The cut edges of acrylic material can be polished to look as glossy as the material itself. We polish the edge of saw cut material by using a number of operations to insure a clean, crisp edge which is then flame polished. Or, we laser cut the material, which automatically produces the look of the polished edge without the secondary operations. In either case, there is an additional charge for flame polished or laser cut acrylic pieces.

• Special Shapes – We can cut most any special shape that you can draw on our CNC routers or Laser for flexible engraving stock or phenolic. The customer must supply artwork, drawings and other specifications. Setup charges and minimum quantities will apply.

• Custom Imprinting – We can custom imprint logos, lettering and other special requirements on name badges, nameplates, signs etc, using our hot stamping or screen- printing capabilities. The customer must supply electronic artwork in an acceptable format or camera- ready artwork. If you need help in producing artwork, we have a graphic arts department that can produce the necessary artwork for an hourly charge

• Custom Name-Badges – We will custom make name badges from almost any material to your specifications with custom imprinting and with the pin, clip or other finding or your choice (see Ad Specialty).

• Rotary and Laser Engraving – We have complete engraving capabilities to help our customers produce jobs that may be beyond their own production capacity or help in an emergency because of an equipment failure. In either case, we are here to help our customers succeed. We will be happy to quote these jobs. You will find our prices to be extremely reasonable and, in most cases, will allow you to make a profit with us doing the work.
